The Art Competition, in its 10th year, had a record number of local high schools participate: Dallastown, Delone Catholic, Hanover Public, Northeastern, Red Lion, South Western, Susquehannock, West York, William Penn, York Country Day, and York Suburban. All neighboring school districts were invited to participate in this festive contest showcasing local talent. Miller Plant Farm provided the canvases to the art departments this Fall and they were returned to the Farm and hung in the garden center on Black Friday. The murals adorned the walls for holiday shoppers throughout the Season. Votes were just 50¢ each, and you could vote unlimited times, in-store and online.
With the most votes ever recorded for the Art Contest, South Western will be presented with a check for $3,150.50 which includes all proceeds from the votes and a Miller Plant Farm donation. York Suburban came in second, Red Lion in third, and Hanover Public in fourth. These schools will also receive a MPF donation for their efforts.
As winner's in this year's contest, South Western's National Art Honor Society has elected to donate 15% of their earnings to the Diane Miller Gift of Hope Fund. To see the outpouring of support throughout our community is such a beautiful thing. Thank you, South Western!
Miller Plant Farm looks to continue the Annual Interscholastic Holiday Mural Art Competition next year and hopes to increase the number of involved high schools.
