2024 CSA Week #12 Update

Nicole

It’s hard to believe we have already reached the end of August, and the final week for summer shares!

Overall, it has been a good season for flowers. Our first planting is reaching the end of its productivity period, while the second is in its prime, and the third is coming along nicely. The last planting of sunflowers also went in this week! It is now up to Mother Nature now to determine how late into the season we will have nice flowers for the farm market.

2023 Crew Favorites:

  • Celosia- The celosia this year is just stunning, and we could pick them forever as each bloom is unique!
  • Zinnias- Our crop of zinnias was slow to start, but once they got started, they were gorgeous!!!
  • Gomphrena Fireworks- This new gomphrena was a crew favorite! It is easy to pick, beautiful and held up well long term in the bunches and field!
  • Long Standing favorites we can’t do without would be our lisianthus, sunflowers, and ageratum.

Thanks for joining us in enjoying the beauty of this year’s seasonal flowers! We hope to have them in store for the month of September yet, weather permitting!

Have a good week,
Nicole Wisner (on behalf of the Flower Field Gals)
