2023 CSA Week #3 Update

Steve

Greetings from the field! I hope everyone is enjoying your CSA shares to this point. We are anxiously waiting for corn season to start, as is everyone I talk to. The warm weather in May had us thinking corn would be a little early this year. In June Mother Nature had another idea. The colder June in combination with the dry weather has slowed things down. I assure you that soon enough little drops of butter with salt will be falling off that first ear of corn as you start munching away!

Around the farm it has been business as usual. We are working on weeding crops, fertilizing and watering with our drip irrigation, and still planting some late watermelons and cantaloupes. It is hard to believe, but in a week or two we will start to plant our fall crops for September and October. It doesn’t seem right as we are just starting Summer!

I have been talking to our tree fruit partners and they are telling me that the fruit crop looks very good this year. That is good news as the past few years have been tough for them.

I hope everyone has a good Fourth of July holiday weekend,
Steve
